Plant Fruit and Veg in Your Lunchbox – aims to increase consumption of fruit and vegetables.
Fruit and vegetables provide essential nutrients for healthy eyes, skin and hair and protect against many diseases.
Drinking water instead of sweet drinks provides hydration for concentration and learning and promotes healthy teeth.
Meeting the criteria:
Primary schools
To meet this criterion, Primary Schools need to have a strategy in place to encourage all students to eat fruit and vegetables while at school.
Early childhood services
To meet this criterion, Early Childhood Services need to:
- Serve fruit and vegetables as part of every meal and snack and request that families include these foods in lunchboxes everday
- Plan positive, relaxed and social meal environments
- Encourage and support Breastfeeding.
