Radiology and Medical Imaging

The Radiology and Medical Imaging department provides a broad range of diagnostic imaging services for both inpatients and outpatients.

Depending on the examination requested, outpatient referrals are accepted from consultant specialists, general practitioners and allied health professionals who have referral rights under Medicare provisions.

Cost Information

  • Public inpatients are not charged for imaging examinations;
  • Outpatients are generally charged according to the Medicate Schedule fee with no gap payment required; and
  • Patients not covered by Medicare are charged according to the designated billing schedule.

Distribution of Reports and Images

  • Reports are distributed electronically via medical director or automated fax to external referrers
  • Images are provided via CD with an embedded DICOM viewer which should load automatically. If not follow the instructions with the CD.
  • Within the LGH and DHHS patient imaging records are available on-line via DHHS PACS. This is a comprehensive single imaging record that covers both the LGH and RHH.

Opening Hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (closed weekends and Public Holidays)
