Holman Clinic Nurse Sarah – Most recent recipient of the LGH DAISY Awards
Holman Clinic RN Sarah has been recognised with a Daisy Award for her outstanding care. The DAISY award was established in the USA in 1999 by the family of a man named Patrick, to honour his memory. Now an international program, Patricks family say, “We vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care Patrick received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization”. We wanted to say “thank you” to nurses everywhere by establishing a recognition program. Nurses can be nominated by anyone - patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians, and staff - anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary compassionate care being provided by a nurse.
Nurse Sarah was nominated by a patient who she cared for during chemotherapy.
“Sarah has been my main nurse throughout my chemotherapy treatment. As this was my second cancer diagnosis at just 36 years of age, I felt a lot of anxiety and had some concerns during treatment,” the patient said in her nomination.
“Sarah, not only had a calming influence, but is also incredibly caring and compassionate. “
Sarah was praised for “always going the extra mile to ensure I was comfortable, relaxed and at ease for the duration of my treatment.”
Sarah was described as an amazing nurse who provided the best possible care.
“I know that without her support, I would not have been able to endure the last few months. “
