Director - Rural Pathways news
Whilst travelling around the state I consistently heard from rural GPs that they find it hard to access interactive professional development relevant to their local needs. Everything is face-to-face and difficult to attend, or online modules.
The TRMGP aims to facilitate people becoming rural GPs but also support them in their ongoing roles.
We are therefore keen to support a TRMGP webinar series.
The concept behind the webinar series is to be by rural GPs for rural GPs.
Webinars will occur on a monthly basis. Webinars will be Thursdays 8-9pm, 1 hour in duration and feature local rural GPs and teams who are doing something innovative, facing a particular challenge or would like to present an interesting case with learning outcomes for the group. Each presenter gets 10 minutes with 5 minutes question time.
Participants can share details in order to continue conversations outside the webinar session with their new or renewed networks.

Edition 3 Profile: Ben Dodds
I'm Ben, a 4th Year Medical Student at the Rural Clinical School on the NW Coast.
I grew up on the NW coast and have a keen interest in practicing rural medicine when I graduate. In the future I hope to practice as a Rural Medical Generalist and engage in Clinical Leadership in our health care system.
I am currently President of Rustica, which is the University of Tasmania's Rural Health Club. We support and encourage all Health Students to consider rural practice at some point in their career. We offer Networking Opportunities, Clinical Skills Days, Rural High School Visits, Scholarships and advocate on behalf of our members. We are part of the National Rural Health Student Network who are engaged as a major stakeholder in the rural health landscape. I encourage you to check out our Rustica website and our Facebook page (Rustica.UTAS) to see what we have been up to this year and what is planned for the future.

8 day intensive practical residential courses are offered with the Australian Antarctic Division as stand-alone courses or as part of the Remote and Polar Health stream of the Master of Public Health Program.
Aim to assist health professionals meet their learning needs and professional development requirements. Includes topics such as:
- Regional Anaesthesia Workshops
- Acute Appendicitis Workshops
