Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the Tasmanian Rural Health Conference 2018 'Resilience in Rural Communities'. The Launceston event saw 119 attendees discuss topics from dental care, to hepatits management, to retrieval, to resilience. The event was attended by the Minister for Health, Michael Ferguson after which Ministers unanimously agreed to a nationally consistent approach to mandatory reporting that removes barriers for registered health professionals to seek appropriate treatment.

April saw the 16th WONCA World Rural Health Conference in New Dheli, India. The 'Delhi Declaration' and slides by Dr John Wynn-Jones.
Thank you also to all of the rural practitioners that provided feedback to inform the State government response to the Senate Inquiry into the accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia.

The Australian Government Health Workforce Scholarship Program
This program has been announced and will provide grants to postgraduate rural health professionals undertaking further study in the field of medicine, nursing or allied health. The scholarship program will be administered by the Rural Workforce Agency in Tasmania, HRPlus.

PTAS (Patient Transport Assistance Scheme)
GPs can now refer patients under PTAS for surgical termination of pregnancy services interstate. Please visit the Patient Travel Assistance Scheme

Emergency Medicine Foundation: Rural and Remote Research Program
EOI is currently open for $50,000 to support a collaborative research project in the fiend of emergency medicine for the benefit of rural and remote patients within Australia. For more information, please visit the Emergency Medicine Foundation.
